A stye is a swell on the eyelid that is usually caused by the infection of one or several eyelashes’ follicles. It can occur either on the external or internal surface of the eyelid. Officially this disease is called gordeolum. Its main symptoms are reddening, swell and pain. An eye can be tearful or there can occur the feeling of some foreign body inside. If the stye has external location, you can see a yellow ulcer near the eyelid edge. It feels warm or painful while touching. If it is internal, the hotbed looks like reddening with a yellow stain in the center. It can be seen only if the eyelid is inverted. The skin around swell is visually inflamed.
