What Is Uterine Hysteroscopy?
Female intimate
health is a very complicated sphere. Gynecological diseases can be
very various and dangerous so this sphere requires proper care and
attention of a woman by regular visits to gynecologist and keeping
all his appointments. Modern gynecology services have a lot of
methods of examination and diagnostics of the female health sphere to
discover diseases on their earliest stage. One of such method that
allows deep and detailed diagnostic of uterine health is hysteroscopy
procedure. What is it and when is it appointed?
Hysteroscopy is the
method of inner investigation of the state of uterus. It allows to
determine the reasons of such problems as uterine bleedings, loss of
fertility, if any diseases take place there. These investigations are
performed with the help of special device – hysteroscope. It’s a
long and thin apparatus with lighting and camera. The procedure is
completely safe and not painful at all. Its performance requires a
certain amount of analyses to be made before it. Usually it’s made
on the 6th
-10th
day of menstruation period and is performed under the narcosis.
The main purpose of
hysteroscopy is diagnostics. The doctor determines reasons of
diseases and diagnoses them according to the data received in the
process of investigation. What suspicions of the doctor make him come
to a conclusion that hysteroscopy is required in this case? These are
the suspicions on having such diseases as: endometriosis, polyps,
endometrial hyperplasia, adhesions, hysteromyoma, adenocarcinoma,
infertility of no obvious genesis, uterine pathologies, bleeding with
no obvious reasons, and habitual miscarrying of pregnancy.
Hysteroscopy can be not only means of diagnostic but a practical
procedure too. For example, it allows to cut the septum inside the
uterus, to remove polyps and adhesions or myoma bundles
(hysteroscopic myomectomy).
It cannot be performed if there are any inflammatory processes are
going on in a woman’s organism. Before it the gynecological
examination and analyses are required.
